Here's another reason to use some pedal power this Friday, National Bike to Work Day: If you're near the Whole Living offices in New York City, you can get free breakfast-on-the-go and a chance to win awesome prizes -- including a Gazelle bike valued at $849!
UPDATE! May 19: Not in NYC? You can still participate online -- and win a women's bike jacket! Here's how to enter our online giveaway.
1 The Felt Cafe 8 is an eight-speed with a seat that leans forward slightly to help you pedal harder and faster. Retail price: $569
3 This side carrier by Chariot Carriers lets you see your kid at all times and stays grounded even during quick turns. Retail price: $500
- What: Free smoothies and bike-gear giveaways
- Where: West 26th Street and the Hudson River (look for the Friends of Hudson River Park tent), Manhattan
- When: Friday, May 21, 5 - 10 a.m.
- Why: We couldn't think of a better place to celebrate National Bike Month than along the Hudson River Park Greenway -- a lovely stretch of bike path that runs along Manhattan's West Side Highway and, conveniently, right across the street from the Martha Stewart and Whole Living offices.
From 5 to 10 a.m. on Friday, we'll be stationed at West 26th Street and the Hudson River, giving out smoothies (made with a bike-powered blender); free issues of Whole Living's June issue (which includes a special biking feature); and lots of cool cycle-centric gear, pictured in the photo gallery above.
Stop by for your chance to meet the editors and win helmets, locks, shoes, baskets, bags, and more, from retailers such as Lazer, Kryptonite, Cateye, Bontrager, REI, Camelbak, Keen, Chariot Carriers, Park Tool, and Lezyne. And one lucky commuter will win our grand prize: a super-sweet Gazelle single-speed bike.
Even if you're not in New York City, chances are there's a bike-to-work event happening near you, as well. Check out the official National Bike Month events page to find one in your state. And stay tuned to Whole Living Daily this week -- we're cooking up more bike-gear giveaways for readers (and riders) all over the country.
UPDATE! May 19: New prizes are being added every day, including the Cafe 8 three-speed bike by Felt, donated by Zen Bikes, and bike care and repair gear from Pedros.

It's really cool that Whole Living is supporting Bike to Work Day and giving away breakfast. Too bad you're in New York instead of Chicago

I’ve been surfing online more than 2 hours today, and this is the best article I've come across. I'm a blog post fiend so I've actually read a lot already.Personally I think, if all web owners and bloggers made as good content as youhave, the net would bemuch more useful than ever before.
