I strive to keep my wardrobe closet organized so when my silky tank top slipped off the hanger and hit the closet floor (again) I knew there had to be a better way. Tired of picking up clothing that slid off hangers and unwilling to pay for pricey slip-proof hangers I set off to make my own.
Being the green organizer I knew I must already own something I could use to turn my regular hangers into the slip-proof kind. It was later that day when I opened the utility drawer and the rubber jar opener stared back at me that the solution presented itself.
A pair of scissors and a glue gun later and I had transformed my hangers. I simply glued thin strips of the non-skid material to either end of the hanger and now my clothing now stays in place instead of sliding into a cluttered pile on my closet floor. Are you ready to create your own slip-proof hangers in just three simple steps?
3 Steps to Craft Your Hanger
You'll need:
- Non-slip material. This shelf liner at Target is perfect (and cheap!)
- Glue gun
- Scissors
- Regular hangers (just enough for the slippery clothes)
What to do:
- Cut 1-inch rectangles of non-skid material
- Glue to either end of the hanger
- Hang your clothes (Martha can give you some help with this if you need it.)
Busy person shortcut:
A rubber band will also do the trick, simply wrap a rubber band on either end of the hanger.
Keep life simple! When you don't have to waste time re-doing tasks like re-hanging clothing life is easier. So make your slip-proof hangers today and stop wasting time picking clothing up off the closet floor.
Until next time keep it simple and clutter-free!

Have you tried this? Do you like this idea? Tell me what you think...

Pictures of an actual completed hanger should be posted. That gripliner and glue is not going to hold for long wrapped around the slippery surface of a plastic hanger or the thin metal wire version. There needs to be a little more work to get it to STAY attached and I would love to know what yours looked like so as to know if you attached them in a different fashion to stay on.

I love the rubber band idea!
I re-posted this on Facebook as my Daily Duh...and linked back to you. Thanks!
