Organize for Free with Zip Bags: Part Two

Posted by

Turns out you loved the first seven clever re-uses for clear, vinyl zipper or snap top bags so much that you asked for more! So I'm back again with the next seven ways you can reuse them. In case you missed the first seven you can read them here, then look for part three coming next week.

1 of 7

1 Use a magnet to hang a bag on your washing machine and collect pocket contents.

2 Keep seasoning packets organized in your pantry.

3 Never lose a receipt again!

4 Keep extra makeup in order. They also make great manicure bags.

5 Keep your travel-size bottles in one, convenient place.

6 Pet grooming tools can be hard to make room for. Keep them organized and in one spot!

7 Clip the bags to a cardboard box for an easy trunk organizer.

7 More Ways to Organize:

Washing Machine Organizer
Never wash a Chapstick in the pocket of your jeans again. Use a magnet to attach the bag to the front or side of your washing machine as a catch all for the items that come out of clothing pockets before laundering. Chapstick, loose change, pens, and gum will now have a place to go and it is not in through the wash.

Pantry Packet Organizer
Just the other day I came across a packet of falafel mix that had gotten pushed to the back of the pantry shelf- - it was a year past its prime. If I'd had my spice and mix packets hanging in a bag on the inside of the pantry door I would have made falafel a year ago. How about you–could you use a way to store packets so you remember to use what you have?

Receipt Organizer
Returning a recent purchase or matching receipts to monthly statements will be easy if you store your receipts in a clear bag. Don't forget to label the bag so you can tell the months apart at a glance. To make it easy to toss in the newest receipts consider storing the bag near the front door instead of in your home office.

Makeup Organizer
By now you probably know I have a bit of a lip gloss obsession- - the bag is perfect for storing the ones I'm not currently using. If you are like me and you have more makeup than you can use at one time keep the extra in these bags. They also make great manicure bags complete with polishes and nail files.

Travel Container Organizer
Going on vacation? Prevent a massive delay at the security screening by packing liquids in travel size bottles inside the clear bag. The bag not only allows the screener to easily see what is inside but it keeps any spills from ruining your clothing. Even if you are not going on a plane packing for any vacation is easier with these bags.

Pet Care Organizer
Keep Fido and Fluffy's grooming items on hand in these bags. Pet brushes, nail clippers and even shampoo slip easily inside and you can see what you have at a glance. Looking for some great pet supplies? Check out Martha's new line at Petsmart!

Trunk Organizer
Before you invest in a pricey trunk organizer consider crafting your own. Perfect for keeping shopping bags upright and other supplies handy this organizer is a necessity. All you need is a cardboard box or a spare laundry basket. Bend the flap of the bag over the edge of the box or basket and secure with a binder clip. Shopping bags have a place to sit while the clear bags store smaller items like a flashlight, car manual, and other car care items.

What other household items do you hate throwing away but aren't sure how to put to good use? I take requests!

Until next time keep it simple and clutter-free!

  • These ideas can be dangerous. Just heard from someone who said she's thinking of picking up a new set of sheets just to get the bag!
