I love this energy smoothie for breakfast or a late-afternoon snack. Cold pressed coconut oil provides energy without burdening the liver and gallbladder. The cacao beans have high levels of antioxidants and are chalk full of essential nutrients. Spirulina is a great source of protein and chlorophyll that you can count on for endurance.
You can use any super green powder in this recipe, such as spirulina or blue green algae. There are many great green powders out there – such as Pure Synergy and Greener Grasses – Green powders, cold pressed coconut oil and cacao are available at health food stores.
Makes 1 serving
1 cup nut milk (almond or hazelnut)
1 cup ice
1 teaspoon spirulina
2 figs or 2 dates
1 cup strawberries (fresh or frozen)
1 teaspoon coconut oil
2 teaspoons cacao nibs
Pinch of Himalayan or Celtic sea salt
Pinch of stevia (optional)
Directions: Put all ingredients into a blender and process until smooth. Pour one serving into a glass and enjoy. The remaining serving will keep in the refrigerator for one day.
