Get Ready for 2011: Change Your Life in Four Weeks!

The week between Christmas and  New Year's is the perfect time for looking back on the entire year and looking forward to the new one ahead.

And in Whole Living world, that means gearing up for our annual 28-Day Whole Living Action Plan. Are you ready for a challenge? Come join us!

The Plan has taken several names over the last few years -- Whole Body Action Plan last year; the Body+Soul Challenge for years before that. And the content changes every year, as well, based on your feedback and the help of our experts.

What hasn't changed is the reason behind the Plan. We're kick-starting the new year off on the right foot, leaving behind the unhealthy habits that often creep in throughout the year and especially during the hectic holiday season. We're starting with a gentle, food-based cleanse and detoxifying exercises designed to purify mind and body, then we're ramping up with heartier nutrition and more intense workouts designed to fortify and make you stronger and healthier.

Last year we launched an online community in conjunction with the Action Plan, and we were thrilled to see it grow throughout the year. This year, we've got more than twice the members we had during last year's challenge -- some of the smartest, funniest, and most inspirational people we've met in a long time.

Throughout the Plan next month, we'll be highlighting featured bloggers who will be with you every step of the way.  We'll also be hosting expert Q&As in our online forums and discussing the Plan on Whole Living Radio (Sirius/XM) and the Martha Stewart Show (Hallmark Channel).

And of course, we'll still be sending out your daily challenges every morning via email; during the month of January, they'll just coincide with the Plan. If you're not already following the year-round plan, you can sign up here.

So if you're in need of a health boost or looking for a fresh start in 2011, hop on board. Find the Action Plan in our January/February issue (on newsstands tomorrow) and check out the complete schedule online. Join our community and get to know your fellow Action Planners, write a blog, or start a discussion. And if you get confused or have a question, check out our FAQ page and discussion board (or just ask us!).

Enjoy the next few days of reflection, relaxation, and revelry. On January 1 and 2, you'll have time to regroup and prepare for the Plan. And on January 3, your new year -- and new you -- officially begins. See you then!

  • Ready and willing to commit to change my life in 4 weeks. I have been doing a good job of adding exercise to my life, eating better also. This is going to be a good year to tackle the plan.

  • I am looking forward to this year's action plan. I used to take such good care of myself and somewhere along the way forgot how important that is. I recently reached the 1/2 century milestone and participating in the plan is my gift to myself!

  • I really need to do this! I started taking blood pressure medication earlier this year and I'm hoping to stop! I can't however until I get my weight down and start moving. I don't have a lot to lose( about 30 lbs.) but that is a lot if I can't commit to more movement and healthier eating. I'm going to use this as my jumping off point!

  • I'm looking forward to the challenge and the delicious juicing and light meals. I am a chef and it's difficult to lose the pounds when you're cooking all day and tasting for recipe clarity. I wish us all a successful and life altering challenge for the New Year!

  • I'm really looking forward to getting started again. I completed the action plan through out October this year - it was great!
    I'm now training for triathlons and am about to start club competition in January - all from a base of 20kg over weight and not having exercised in 7 years.
    The gentle yoga and incremental increases in exercise through out the month really helped me get in the right state of mind to make changes.
    Get on board it is a great program and well worth the effort. Good luck and a safe and happy New Year to everyone.

  • I can't wait for this to begin. It's so much easier when you have daily reminders. Being gluten free is very challenging and with all the gluten free junk food out there now it's doubley hard. I hope to become grain free this year, hopefully this will help.

  • I was just saying that I needed to cut out sugars and processed food that I've slowly had creeping into my diet. Yuck. This is the perfect way to do it. I cant wait to start. I'm gonna have a hard time cutting out coffee with a newborn and a toddler cutting into my sleep though!~
