Last week, I invited Dr. Brooke Kalanick (co-author of Ultimate You) to join me on my live, daily call-in show "Whole Living" on Martha Stewart Living Radio. Dr. Brooke, of course, designed our detox for the Whole Living Action Plan 28-Day Challenge. And with all the questions and concerns that lit up our community boards, we knew Dr. Brooke would have plenty to say--about the goal of the detox, and the reasons why we cut out certain foods for two weeks.
So often when people embark on a plan like this, there's a general freak-out factor where all of a sudden, it's as if everyone loses all knowledge of what they should or shouldn't eat (Can I eat this? Why not that?). We're no longer sure what, if anything, is ok to put in our mouths. Dr. Brooke provided some clear guidance and sound reason why it's worth cutting out these foods for a time (and maybe a long time, if you feel great without them!).
Want To Know What She Said?
Listen to our interview (thanks to Jillian MacDonald for posting this on the Martha Radio Blog!)--and I guarantee you'll feel a lot better about this whole detox thing. You also may be inspired, as I am, to maybe even hold out a little longer with some of the detox elements. (Did you know that you might be sensitive to the effects of gluten without digestive problems? That you might actually feel foggy several days later even because of a bagel you ate on Sunday? I didn't.)
If you like what you hear, join me every day at 10a E, 7a W on Martha Stewart Living Radio at sirius 112, xm 157! You can sign up for your free 30-day subscription here (listen on your computer or smartphone!).
Keep up the good work, folks, and take heart. This doesn't have to be hard or scary. It could be the beginning of a whole new you.
