Challenge of the Day: Breathe Easier

Just a few moments of deep, slow breathing can kick your relaxation response into gear and create a comfy margin between you and whatever stressful events happened today. Legendary yoga teacher Seane Corn suggests sitting in a cross-legged position and, as you breathe, focusing on the experience of each inhale and exhale. "It's a great way to let go and prepare for sleep," Corn says.

  • Love, love, love the app "Time Out" (of course, the free version) I have on my computer. I have the timer set for 15 seconds of deep breathing and 5 minutes of shut down time where I get up and move, stretch, dance or whatever strikes my fancy.

    These timers can be set to your desired frequency and length of break needed. Check it out!
