Challenge of the Day: How to Listen Better? Shut Up.
Are you a chronic interrupter? Do you feel the need to fill any microscopic void in conversation? Today, challenge yourself to stay silent when other people are talking. Focus on their faces, let their words come into your ears, and notice how this changes your interaction and influences your state of mind.
Read how Terri Trespicio learned the value of staying silent as the host of "Whole Living," our radio show on Sirius 112.

The odd time I do find myself interupting but there are certain people that don't understand that a conversation is 2 people conversing, not just one person talking at another person for the entire time. I do pledge to listen more though because I realize that these people probably need to talk more than I do.

this is just another reminder to let go off our egos, which can be very hard sometimes, if we start slowly we will get there eventually!

This is a reminder for me to actually listen, take a breath and not just wait for my turn to talk.

This got my attention, and it is a good idea. But I thought the approach was quite rude. I don't like being told to shut up by anyone. Nor do I use the phrase much. I think a better introduction would be to say: How to Listen Better? Be quiet.
