C'mon, admit it, you've talked on your cell phone or texted while driving. We have, too. But here's why we all need to train ourselves to keep our eyes—and minds—on the road: If you text while driving, you are 23 times more likely to be involved in an accident than a non-distracted driver is. Even if you're disciplined and keep your phone in your purse, applying lip gloss, eating, drinking, and searching for something in the backseat are also highly distracting. Take the advice of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (the folks who put bones and bodies back together after car crashes, and whose Decide to Drive campaign draws attention to the problem of distracted driving), and pay attention only to the road when you're behind the wheel.
