The Occupy Wall St. movement has been building a new response around the US and the world. My experience is that It is not something you can easily digest in a soundbite. It is an opportunity for people to be heard, to be in community, and to share a different vision of the future.
I went there in my interfaith minister shoes the last two weekends and found myself fully enaged in the space finding veterans, senior citizens, young students, musicians, teachers, entrepreneurs and the following:
Joining in a large meditation for an hour around the sacred space that's been created;
Peace-talking with a Palestinian-American urban farmer creating a peace walk in Jerusalem;
Hope and self rediscovery talk with a 26-year-old former mortgage dealer;
A 100% discussion with a 1%er;
Joining in a hands-on healing circle;
Impressed by the street medical station created with preventative ginger, Emergen-C, hand sanitizer, etc...
There is so much possibility, education, heart and energy in this movement. All the news blurbs can't capture what this is about, because it seems to be about a thousand expressions of doing things differently, and doing it together. Here's to the heart of Wall S
