Smoothie Wednesday: Luscious Lemon and Avocado

Posted by

Lately, I've been trying to curb my sweet tooth a little. It's gotten to the point where I want a little nibble of chocolate after just about every meal (yikes!). So over the past few weeks, I've been trying to come up with alternative treats, like this Lemon Smoothie, to help curb my cravings in the afternoons. It is savory and slightly sweet with a nice sour bite. The perfect better-for-me treat.
Lemon Smoothie
Makes 1
1 lemon, juiced
1/2 lime, juiced
1/2 avocado
1/2 cup cucumber
1 cup filtered water
1/16-1/8 teaspoon Stevia*

Combine the citrus juices, avocado, cucumber, water and Stevia in a blender. Blend well. Taste. Add another touch of Stevia to sweeten, if desired. (Stevia is quite potent.)  Enjoy!

* Stevia is a plant native to Central and South America. It's 300 times as sweet as sugar, but has zero calories. A little Stevia goes a long way. I recommend Nu Naturals in powdered form.
