This past weekend, I spent a few days embracing the warmth of the Caribbean. A sunny getaway this time of year always helps me cope with the long and cold New York winters. After a long day of travel on Monday, I woke up the next morning craving a refreshing and rejuvenating drink. Rosemary, surprisingly, is wonderfully awakening and stimulates sluggish digestion (which is often disrupted after plane travel as well as during a deep whole foods cleanse). The fresh herb is also great for increasing circulation (which helps boost your energy) and improving concentration (just in case you need a little extra concentration during the final strides of the cleanse!).
Pineapple and Rosemary Detox Tonic
Serves 1 (~230 calories)
1 cup pineapple, frozen
1 teaspoon fresh rosemary, finely chopped (~1 medium sprig)
1/4 cup raw cashews
1/2 cup almond milk
1 cup water
Directions
Combine the ingredients above into a powerful blender until smooth and creamy. Thin with water or thicken with ice if desired. Enjoy!

Hi all! Please bear in mind that counting calories with raw foods, smoothies and juices is not equivalent to the calories you count on a traditional diet of cooked and/or processed foods. Nothing is wasted here on a produce rich diet. Your body knows how to assimilate all the nutrients and calories in living, fresh foods. I try and focus on serving up smoothies rich in live enzymes. I do provide a broad caloric framework for beauties just migrating to eating more raw foods, however. I hope that is somewhat helpful. - Noelle
