Smoothie Wednesday: Apple-Yogurt Smoothie with Sage

I recently popped out of town for a few days in search of some snowflakes. There haven’t been too many floating through New York City this winter, and I missed them. I didn’t bring much aside from a few snow clothes and some PJs, though I did manage to sneak in my small travel blender. It’s always great for whipping up a healthy breakfast, like this apple-yogurt mixture, on the road.

Apple-Yogurt Smoothie with Sage
Serving Size: 1 (~170 calories)

Ingredients
4 ounces cold water
1 medium cortland apple, pitted and peeled
3 tablespoons coconut milk yogurt or Greek yogurt
3 fresh sage leaves
2 dates, pitted
2-3 ice cubes

Sage – Sage has been embraced for many centuries to help treat ailments of aging, by improving memory and concentration. It is also embraced for its cleansing and purification properties.

Coconut Milk Yogurt – Regular cow dairy can be gooey and often inhibits your body’s detoxification work. Regular dairy is also a major contributor to excess body fat.

Directions
Combine the ingredients above into a good powerful blender until smooth and creamy. Thin with water or thicken with ice if desired.  Enjoy!
