Smoothie Wednesday: Be a Green Goddess

Posted by

This smoothie involves a little bit of time and some love. It was concocted as a result of my close friend’s frustration with her progress on a juice cleanse. Halfway through the first day of drinking only juice, she wanted to quit and give away her juices to her office mates.

I caught her just in time. Instead of giving away her juices, we whipped up a delicious smoothie and put together a cleanse-friendly dinner for her to enjoy. It was just the tweak she needed to finish--and actually enjoy--the cleanse. If you know a friend who is looking to revisit a clean-eating plan this month (perhaps they joined us for the Whole Living Action Plan in January), share this smoothie with them. It’s bursting with dark leafy greens, packed with vitamins, minerals and antioxidants, to support a healthy, happy you this March.

Green Goddess Smoothie
Serves 1(~200 calories)

1/4 bunch celery
1/4 head romaine lettuce
1 packed cup dark curly spinach
3 curly green kale leaves
1 pear, quartered
1/4 avocado, peeled and pitted
1 tablespoon spirulina powder

Directions
Press celery, romaine lettuce, spinach, kale and pear through a juicer. Then combine the freshly pressed juice, avocado and spirulina into a blender until smooth and creamy. Thicken with ice if desired. Enjoy!
