Who is your beauty inspiration? Me! I try to make the most of what I have!

What product/treatment/beauty indulgence do you spend the most on? I always have my eyelashes and eyebrows tinted, feet and hands manicured and legs waxed. I make sure my hair is always cut well and keep my skin in good condition. I have those beauty treatments at 7 am on Saturdays so I don't take all day. I am very careful about my weight and keeping trim. I take a lot of exercise. If I keep all this up, I can keep looking ten years younger. Which I hope I do!

What do you spend the least on? I always think beauty treatments are good value when done by a good therapist. They are not a 'pamper' to me. More maintenance of what I have and what I am. So spending the least on something is not what I consider. I don't overspend on beauty treatments; I would rather invest in them than new clothes.

What does age mean to you? I ignore it! It's just an excuse which leads to attitudes and actions which are misleading. However I think as you become older it's important to be accepting of yourself and not try to appear younger.

What’s the most interesting thing you’ve learned about skin/hair/nails/beauty this year? I have been learning a lot about ethnic skin and hair and formulating products carefully for this purpose. Women of color take such care of their appearance and it is so interesting to hear what they do and the ingredients they like. And if one is clever products which appeal to similar skin and hair types can be created. Many people have very fragile hair and similar skin.

What’s the one thing you do (not product-based) that you think affects your appearance more than anything else? Taking a lot of exercise! I run many miles a week—sometimes up to 100. I do not have cellulite but it's a tough way to achieve that. Exercise is also excellent for the brain, giving you thinking time as well as producing lots of endorphins to keep you feeling good. I weigh less now than I did when I was 15. I also practice yoga which is very relaxing and gives great strength and flexibility. That and seeking a calm life helps enormously.

Why naturals? Because they work. If they didn't we would have found something else. But you can't beat the effects that naturals give to the skin and the hair.
