Smoothie Wednesday: Kale With Orange

If you’re like me, you like to go to the store and pick up a few basic ingredients to make a variety of different smoothies. At the same time, you don’t want to buy so many ingredients that you risk things spoiling (what a drag!). So over the past few weeks, I invested in a bunch of kale and some spring strawberries and branched out from there.

Kale and strawberries make a fabulous smoothie combo! This one incorporates freshly squeezed orange juice and tangy lemon. I have really been enjoying it for breakfast on these warm spring mornings!

Just getting started with kale? The dark leafy green is full of nutrients with antioxidant and anti-inflammatory benefits that help you stay vibrant and youthful. Kale Smoothie with Strawberry and Orange
Serving Size: 1 (230 calories)

3/4 cup strawberries*, frozen
1 cup kale*, loosely packed
1 orange, peeled and quartered
½ banana, frozen
zest of 1 small lemon*
juice of half a lemon
1/2 cup water
½ cup orange juice (freshly squeezed if you can!)
1-2 ice cubes, to thicken
(* Organic, if possible.)

Place ingredients into a good powerful blender until smooth and creamy. Thin with water or thicken with ice if desired. Enjoy!
