Maybe for next year's contest, you could keep this in mind: I don't think it was fair to end the voting the same day final entries went up. They either should have all gone up at the same time, or the voting should have lasted several days in order to give them all the same time to be voted on and seen. Entries that were posted late on April 30th had almost zero chance of getting the votes they needed to be considered. That wasn't very well thought out.

Yeah, I also didn't get to vote until it was all over. I really don't think these top 10 were the top 10 of the whole bunch you posted. I would call for re-opening of the contest. Sandra's right that you didn't make it fair; it wasn't possible for all of the entries to get the same number of votes the way you posted them.
