Now that your summer glow is starting to fade, is your skin looking a little lackluster? There's a simple way to regain that vibrant complexion: Exfoliating sloughs off dead skin cells, revealing the fresh skin beneath.
To get started, all you need are a few items that you probably already have in your kitchen. Try the following simple recipe from Randi Ragan, owner and founder of GreenBliss EcoSpa in Los Angeles.
Sugar's tiny granules make it an excellent natural exfoliant, says Ragan. She pairs the sweet stuff with fruit, which are packed with gentle acids, and soothing oatmeal. Whip up her face scrub and apply it to clean skin once a week:
Oatmeal, Sugar, and Fruit Scrub
¼ cup oatmeal
1 tablespoon sugar
A few slices of fruit, such as apple or strawberries
1. Add ingredients to a blender, and blend until it forms a smooth paste.
2. Using your fingers, gently massage the scrub into your skin. Wash off. You can also use it as a face mask: Wait 10 minutes before rinsing.
