Sprouted Kitchen: A Tastier Preview

Posted by

To be honest, healthy, wholesome cooking can be, well, boring. After another lentil salad for lunch, what I'm really hankering for is a B.L.T. With Helman’s.

But we all know that eating simple, lovingly prepared food improves the quality of our lives, and what makes us lust over a lot of the fare prepared on food blogs, in charming kitchens where we'd like to transport ourselves.

Meet Sara Forte, of our September issue’s Kitchen Shelf Q&A. She's the whole-foods blogger behind Sprouted Kitchen and has a new cookbook, The Sprouted Kitchen, out this month, for which she created an adorable promo video. Shot and edited by her husband, Hugh Forte, the video offers an authentic look into the couple behind the recipes and photos.

Sara grew up on Mexican food from the frozen aisle and powdered spaghetti sauce, but now lives her mantra that healthy, soulful food doesn’t have to be complicated—in fact, it shouldn’t be. By using quality ingredients and local, seasonal produce  she shows that a good meal is just a few steps away.

For those who can’t wait, there are four recipes from the book previewed on her blog. Think Tuscan kale chopped salad, Asian tofu tacos with hoisin slaw, and coconut-almond cookies. Oh yeah, and grapefruit margaritas.

We just drooled a little bit. And it wasn’t even over a B.L.T.
