Name: Valori Treloar, M.D.

Occupation: Dermatologist, Owner of Integrative Dermatology, and author of The Clear Skin Diet (Cumberland House, 2007)

Location: Newton, MA

Who is your beauty inspiration? My yoga teacher, who is perpetually smiling.

What product/treatment/beauty indulgence do you spend the most on? A total-body massage.

What do you spend the least on? Makeup.

What does age mean to you? Grace. It also means learning how to say goodbye to "the pretty girl."

What’s the most interesting thing you’ve learned about skin/hair/nails/beauty this year? Epigenomics. The foods you eat can actually turn on and off specific genes. For instance, you can turn off genes of inflammation—which contributes to the aging of skin and skin diseases—by eating marine sources of omega-3s and avoiding wheat and potato products.

What’s the one thing you do (not product-based) that you think affects your appearance more than anything else? Strength training.

Why naturals? The word "natural" is notoriously undefined in the consumer world, so you have to do your own research.
