Smoothie Wednesday: Pineapple Punch

This weekend, my in-laws were in town celebrating our very first Fall Festivus. My son ran around the house in a Spiderman costume (see photo taken below by my father-in-law), my mother-in-law donned her best set of cat whiskers (they were adorable!), decorative Halloween decor filled the house, and tasty treats moved in and out of the kitchen. One morning we made smoothies for breakfast using leftover ingredients from some Halloween cookies that we made ⎯and this, my friends, is how the Pineapple Punch originated! It's loaded with fresh pineapple, creamy mango, and a dash of hemp seeds for protein. We served ours in champagne glasses to add to the weekend fun!

Pineapple Punch

Serves 1 (160 calories)

If you are new to hemp seeds, start with a 1/2 tablespoon and work your way up. They have a distinct taste; if you're not a fan at first, add a drop of honey or pinch of Stevia.

1/2 cup pineapple
1/2 cup mango
1/2 cup almond milk
1/2 cup water
1 tablespoon hemp seeds
3-4 ice cubes

Better-for-you ingredients

Hemp seeds contain all essential amino acids, making them a complete vegetarian protein. They also have a well balanced ratio of omega-3 and omega-6 essential fatty acids that help support good health.

Directions

Blend ingredients into a powerful blender until smooth and creamy. Thin with water or thicken with ice if desired. Enjoy!
