Bio: Coming up for air following a decade-long career coma, Elizah Leigh reinvented herself by finally listening to her inner voice! Her background in education, combined with her passion for the written word and deep-seated interest in environmental issues has proven to be the ideal trifecta for her present status as a dedicated green journalist for such online venues as Ecorazzi, 1-800-Recycling, Causecast, WebEcoist and WebUrbanist.
Inspiring readers to wade in greener waters using a unique literary voice that highlights the informational as well as the quirky side of the green scene, Elizah demonstrates that the journey to a more sustainable lifestyle is doable and even enjoyable when we adopt the right mindset. She believes that the quest that we’re all on isn’t about making sacrifices but rather about recognizing and honoring the symbiotic relationship that we should be having with Mother Nature. Our environment will flourish when we personally commit to becoming the change that we desire in the world and small drops in the bucket are essential to the big picture…so who’s ready to climb on board?
My philosophy: There is no better time than today to create a more balanced, greener tomorrow. Shifting from a ‘me’ to an ‘earth-centric’ way of thinking might take practice, but there are countless eager greenies out there like myself who happily share their ideas on how to make the transition in a way that isn’t nearly as overwhelming or personally depriving as it might seem. Let’s all take advantage of these resources, brainstorm new ways to raise the positive energy of this environmental movement and ultimately restore the yin to our planetary yang.
If I weren’t doing what I do now, I’d probably be: a globe-trotting artist who captures the wonders of the world on canvas, accenting my works with found objects gleaned from beaches, trash cans and forest floors.
Favorite piece of advice: Resist the urge to point the finger of eco-shame at everyone else. Instead, take personal responsibility for the current condition of our planet, chip away at the problem with lifestyle adjustments/community involvement and see tangible results bloom before your very eyes.
