Bio: Eric Maisel, Ph.D., author, coach, family therapist and cultural observer, is widely regarded as one of America’s foremost creativity coaches. His more than 30 books include "Coaching the Artist Within," "Creativity for Life," "Creative Recovery," and "The Van Gogh Blues." He writes a monthly column for Art Calendar Magazine, provides core trainings for the Creativity Coaching Association, and offers writing and coaching workshops worldwide in venues like San Francisco, New York, London, Paris and Berlin. He trains creativity coaches and meaning coaches, maintains a private coaching practice, and lives in the San Francisco/Bay Area. His latest book is "Brainstorm: Harnessing the Power of Productive Obsessions" (New World Library, June, 2010)

My philosophy: There is no meaning to find, there is only the meaning we make. The first step in solving most of our problems is embracing the paradigm shift from seeking meaning to making meaning.

If I weren’t doing what I do now, I’d probably be a professional flaneur (that’s the French word for someone who strolls through great cities, looking and dreaming).
