Francesca Olivieri
Green consultant and eco-parenting blogger
Home: New York, NY
Bio: Inspired at an early age by her grandmother, Frances Reese, one of the co-founders of Scenic Hudson, an environmental group focused on protecting the Hudson River, Francesca has always been passionate about environmental causes. In 2006, she co-founded sage baby, an online eco-friendly baby store, to spread the word about great organic baby products.
Building on this love of talking with people about green products and practices, she recently launched her own green consultant business helping clients make healthy changes in their homes.
Francesca writes regular blogs for several sites including The Family Groove and Scenic Hudson, as well as contributing articles for Daily Candy Kids, YogaCity, Citiscoop, and NRDC’s simple steps. Prior to starting sage baby, she focused on interactive learning, working as an executive producer on CD-ROM and web initiatives for IBM and Time Warner. She also worked in children's book publishing at Jim Henson Productions. Francesca lives in NYC with her husband, 3 young children and their cat.
My philosophy: Small steps can have a big impact. Some of the environmental challenges that our world faces seem overwhelming. But when you break things down and make small changes in your lives and tell your friends about those changes, progress can be made.
If I weren’t doing what I do now, I’d probably be a carpenter or landscape gardener – I have no skills in any of those careers, but a girl can dream.
Favorite piece of advice: You must be the change you want to see in the world - Gandhi
